We would like to invite senior managers, policy makers, sales and marketing staff to attend a session of the Business Value Committee (BVC) entitled “Deriving Business Value from Geospatial Standards”. This event is dedicated to those who want to learn more, or share perspectives on the business value of geospatial technology and standards and how to translate from technical features to benefits and value.
It will take place at 8 AM on Thursday, 2 December at the OGC Sydney, Australia meetings. The event is part of the OGCs quarterly Technical Committee and Planning Committee meetings and will be non-technical, focusing on business aspects. Please consider attending and meeting fellow decision and policy makers, exchanging ideas, and contributing to the establishment of business value to standards development and use.
Following are some of the BVC discussions to be covered:
– Drivers, issues, and business decisions related to geospatial domains
– Inclusion of standards in policy and the related drivers
– Ideas and solutions to industry-wide issues that span all continents
– Business impacts, costs, and risk mitigation of standards development and use within domains
– Early development of the OGC BVC
Across Australia and the world, there are numerous cross-border projects, national legislation, and directives, all requiring access to, and sharing of geospatial information. OGC standards and the interoperability they enable underpins a number of these activities from local to national levels. Understanding and documenting the business value of using these OGC standards, as well as participating in the development, will enable organizations to more readily engage in including them in policies and architectures.
Kylie Armstrong Business Development Cosultant, Western Australian Land Information Authority (Landgate) and the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI) Spatial infrastructure Program Director, Steven Ramage, Executive Director from the OGC, will chair the meeting along with presenter Alain Lapierre, Senior Director, Geospatial and Civil Frameworks, Bentley.
