Norway’s High School Curriculum to Include ArchiCAD

  • Rating12345

GRAPHISOFT recently announced that it has agreed with the Norwegian Building Industry Association (BNL) to provide all secondary schools in Norway with free ArchiCAD licenses.  The BNL is encouraging the schools to use the money saved on licenses to pay for courses for teachers. As a result of this agreement, students are assured that they will be using cutting-edge Building Information Modeling, or BIM.  “Working with BIM is exciting and educational for the students,” said Anita Tjelta, Recruitment and Education Consultant for the BNL.  “It is important for the construction industry that future employees learn and master this technology,” she added.  ArchiCAD’s Norwegian version includes presets for wall panels, roofs, windows, doors, etc., with templates based on the Norwegian Standard.

According to Halvor Sandbu, CEO of GRAPHISOFT Norway, “The new agreement with the BNL offers more schools easier access to software, training and complete project tasks for approximately 200,000 students across Norway.  We are committed to ensuring that Norwegian high school students receive the training necessary to master mathematics, science, and the arts and crafts through ArchiCAD, better preparing them for whatever the future has in store for them.” BIM is used in the construction industry to create 3D models of buildings and facilities.  Use of BIM helps improve information exchange between the various trades that are involved when a building is being planned and built.
