ScanEx RDC completed testing of the new service for satellite-based control of the maritime situation in freezing seas and approach ways to main ports of Russia. Images from radar and optical satellites of different resolution (RADARSAT-1 and -2, ENVISAT-1, Terra, Aqua, SPOT 4 and SPOT 5) are used for a guaranteed all-weather monitoring of ships location and ice situation. A combination of optical and radar data enables to detect more accurately the types of ice, to increase the imaging frequency and to reduce monitoring costs by saving on expensive resources of radar satellites during clear-sky days.
The availability of own network of stations and the operation with satellite images in direct reception mode enables to deliver products with minimum time delay after imaging via a web-interface based on the local GeoMixer technology. A unique web-portal with access to password is created for the customer. This portal gives the option to conduct comparative analysis, to add additional layers with cartographic and meteo data and to visualize and transfer synthesized products. The users may place orders for radar images of the water areas of interest three days prior to the pass without extra charges for urgency. Read More
