Nokia today announced that its Location & Commerce unit has entered into an agreement tosupply global NAVTEQ Map data and content to auto manufacturer Dacia for its new MEDIA NAV infotainment system. The new device is on show for the first time at this year’s Geneva Motor Show on the Dacia Lodgy. Having been launched on the Lodgy, the new MEDIA NAV system will be made available on other models in the Dacia range.
Part of the Renault Group, Automobile Dacia is known for offering excellent value for money. “Dacia’s blueprint for success is to provide space and quality, at an affordable price. A robust and reliable multi-media system at an attractive price, MEDIA NAV complements this formula,” said François Gayral, Cross Car Line Global Marketing Director. “By incorporating NAVTEQ Map data with its superior specification and broad coverage, MEDIA NAV offers an entry level system which can also be upgraded with additional navigation content via USB stick.”
The NAVTEQ Map data features map coverage of over 60 countries with unique map-based content which will help guide drivers efficiently and effectively. For example, Extended Lane content and Junction View images use voice, text or visual cues to highlight the correct lane and simplify routing at complex junctions on the road network. The inclusion of speed limit values not only means drivers can be advised on the maximum speed allowed on a given stretch of road but also supports more accurate journey time estimations.
“We are very pleased Dacia selected NAVTEQ Map data and content for this innovative new MEDIA NAV system,” added Bruno Bourguet, Sales Vice President, Nokia, Location & Commerce. “Known for its automotive grade quality, our content will help create a high value experience for Dacia drivers and introduce them to the enormous benefits of navigation.” Read More
