NASA World Wind Europa Challenge

  • Rating12345

The Europa Challenge will inspire and challenge Europe’s best and brightest to provide sustainable solutions to the European community. And do this in ways that serve local, regional, national or international interests while also advancing the career opportunities for those who accept the challenge.

How to win?

There are two ways to win. One is as a student project. And, at the request of business enterprise, there is now the option for a professional team. Winners will be part of the plenary awards session at the 2013 INSPIRE Conference in Firenze this June, http://inspire-forum.jrc.ec.europa.eu/. And if you are voted as one of the top three teams, we have lodging and meals arranged for you during that week in Firenze, June 22-28, and a cash award.

Student Project

You build a great application that serves the INSPIRE Directive and uses NASA’s open source virtual globe technology, World Wind. To do this you must first establish a team of three to five students, from a single university, with any mix of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students. Each team must have a mentor. The mentor can be a professor, an associate or assistant professor, or an official lecturer at the same university as the team. Together they decide, design and build a spatial data application that serves local, regional, national or international interests guided by the INSPIRE Directive, http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/.

Professional Project

Same criteria as above only there is no limit on team members or any mentor requirement. This is a great opportunity to showcase your company’s talents, while providing premier value to the European community. And in the process, have some brilliant fun!

Deadline

The deadline for PROPOSING the project is April 30 and the deadline to made the project available to the jury is May, 31.
