Based in the Centre for Marine and Coastal Policy Research this Master’s programme will provide the knowledge and skills for individuals to become involved in developing policy, implementing planning and managing marine and coastal environments. This course aims to develop a holistic understanding of marine systems integrating social, economic and natural sciences.

Following the introduction of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, new mechanisms for managing the wide array of activities on the coast ranging from age-old fishing grounds to marine renewable energy and kite surfing are being developed and this course will train graduates to participate in this process.   Applications are invited from those with experience of marine and coastal management in a variety of spheres such as local government, commercial or research background as well as those from a more traditional degree route including graduates of environmental, geographical or biological sciences, economics, sociology and marine studies. 

The course may be taken part or full time with the fees paid pro-rata over two years if part time. Graduates of Plymouth University will receive a 10% discount!! More details can be found at the University website;
