Leica Geosystems announces the launch of Leica PaveSmart 3D for Curb & Gutter and Milling machines, a new application segment to the Leica PaveSmart 3D product line. Based on the modular 3D software platform, and utilizing Leica Geosystems’ unique X-Function® dataflow concept, Leica PaveSmart 3D represents the next generation of machine control systems for the paving and milling industry. Accurate milling of a road surface is the base for a superior ride quality, ensures constant thickness and compaction values and saves costly asphalt material for building the top layers.
After the successful launch of Leica PaveSmart 3D for Curb & Gutter, the world’s first fully-automated 3D all-track grade and steer control system for concrete paving equipment, Leica Geosystems now adds a further application segment to the PaveSmart 3D product line: Leica PaveSmart 3D for Curb & Gutter and Milling machines is specially designed for contractors involved in milling application for roads, airports, mines, etc. Making local references such as curbs or string lines redundant, the system transforms milling operations from an inaccurate, manually controlled process to an automatically operated action with 3D Millimeter accuracy.
This can be easily achieved by adding Leica PaveSmart 3D to the current machine control system without having to re-learn it, which is true Plug and Play functionality. Moreover, the contractor gains additional information such as volumes of material to be removed and transported, optimizing milling depth and the flexibility to work anywhere on the jobsite. A truly integrated solution using state-of-the-art technology Utilizing Leica Geosystems’ world-leading TPS 1200 total station and GNSS (GPS/GLONASS) technologies, Leica PaveSmart 3D extends Leica Geosystems’ revolutionary X-Function® data modeling and sharing concept to the contracting world. Leica Geosystems’ 3D technology tracks the position of the machine in real-time in relation to a 3D model of the jobsite and automatically regulates the hydraulics.
Project design data needs only to be created once, at the start of the construction project. Then they can be seamlessly shared between any CAD system as well as all Leica System 1200 TPS, GPS and Machine Automation equipment on the jobsite – a truly integrated solution to traditional jobsite data exchange problems. www.leica-geosystems.com
