Leica Geosystems announces the further continuation of its successful ATHENA Program a formalized purchase scheme designed to help Universities, Research Organisations and UNAVCO members to better facilitate the use of GNSS Reference Station and Structural Monitoring technology for both teaching and scientific research purposes.

(Heerbrugg, 30th August 2007) Leica Geosystems announces the further continuation of its successful ATHENA Program – a formalized purchase scheme designed to help Universities, Research Organisations and UNAVCO members to better facilitate the use of GNSS Reference Station and Structural Monitoring technology for both teaching and scientific research purposes.

ATHENA stands for ‘Advanced Technology for Higher-Education and Non-profit Associations’ and has the clear objective of introducing the latest GNSS and Monitoring technology to the academic and research communities. Any non-profit organisation providing education and scientific research involving GNSS and Structural Monitoring can benefit thanks to the Leica Geosystems’ ATHENA Program.
The ATHENA Program 2007 consists of a new set of Leica Geosystems GNSS Reference Station and Structural Monitoring product bundles with special discounts for qualified institutions.

The GNSS reference station products include the fully Internet-enabled Leica GRX1200 GG Pro GPS/GLONASS reference station receiver with Onboard-RINEX capability, as well as Leica AT504 GG chokering and AX1202 GG geodetic antennas. Structural Monitoring products available with ATHENA include Leica GMX902 GPS/GLONASS monitoring receiver designed for high-precision monitoring, and Leica NIVEL200 precision inclination sensors. ATHENA now also includes the new Leica GMX901, an affordable and precise GNSS receiver with integrated antenna and ground plane, specially developed to monitor sensitive structures such as mines, slopes, bridges, dams and buildings.
