Leica Geosystems Announces Leica RCD30 Multi-head Camera Concept

  • Rating12345

Leica Geosystems, the world’s leading manufacturer of airborne mapping solutions, announced today that it is expanding the very popular Leica RCD30 series of medium format cameras by adding dual-head and penta-head solutions to the portfolio.

The Leica RCD30 combines unique design features such as bi-directional motion compensation and beamsplitter technology. The Leica RCD30 is the only medium-format camera to generate highly accurate, co-registered multispectral imagery from one camera head for photogrammetric and remote sensing mapping applications.

“We are very pleased with the market acceptance of this revolutionary imaging technology. Our rapidly growing customer base worldwide indicates that this innovative technology exceeds their expectations in image quality, accuracy and productivity,” says Ruedi Wagner, Vice President Imaging at Hexagon Geosystems’ Geospatial Solutions Division. “Once again we have listened to the market and will now expand on the success of the Leica RCD30 design with dual-head and penta-head configurations. We are confident that the industry-first design of a camera head capable of acquiring multispectral data in RGB and NIR combined with four camera heads acquiring RGB data will be of particular interest to such high-growth markets as 3D city and urban mapping.”

The Leica RCD30 multi-head camera system is fully integrated with the proven Leica Geosystems workflow including Leica MissionPro, Leica FCMS, Leica IPAS and Leica FramePro. The system can be operated in the Leica PAV80 gyro-stabilized mount, thus offering full image stabilization in pitch, roll and drift.
