Leica CEO Jürgen Dold Cautiously Optimistic About Economic Recovery

While the weather didn’t quite comply for attendees hoping to get some sunny warmth during their trip here to the Leica Geosystems user conference, held Oct. 25 through 28, few could say Leica didn’t pack plenty of content into the four-day event. Hosted by Leica Geosystems senior VP of strategic marketing Geoff Jacobs, the conference’s training sessions and presentations were a multi-vertical, international array of new ideas and success stories focused around Leica’s 3D laser scanning portfolio. “Expanded to include a forensics track for the first time, which attracted a number of law-enforcement representatives (there was also a full-day “3D laser scanning for shooting reconstruction” training workshop, Oct. 24), the event attracted more than 200 attendees, up roughly 15 percent over last year. Topics covered included construction, architecture, ship-building, forensics, nuclear energy – even forestry management and ecology. Leica Geosystems president and CEO Jürgen Dold kicked off the event by presenting the company’s financial outlook. Dold was bullish on the international economic recovery: “As quick as it went down, it went up again,” he said. Truly global, the Leica Geosystems has an opportunity to view that recovery from many angles. Forty-four percent of its business comes from the EMEA region, with 25 percent coming from the Americas and 31 percent in Asia. Read More
