Laser Survey Will Digitally Model Scotland’s Treasures

Scotland’s five UNESCO heritage sites are among ten of the country’s most important locations that will be the subjects of minute and comprehensive laser modeling surveys.The ten subjects – four of which have yet to be confirmed – will be scrutinised by cutting-edge technology to create exceptionally accurate digital models of them. The work is to be carried out by workers from Historic Scotland and the Digital Design Studio at Glasgow’s School of Art.Historic Scotland claims to have a greater laser scanning expertise and ability than any other heritage organisation anywhere in the world, while the Digital Design Studio is recognised as a world leader in 3D visualization.
