Frank Tierolff, chairman of the board of Kadaster, passed away on Wednesday, 2 July, due to a heart attack. He was only 57 years old. The news has been met with shock at Kadaster, and condolences are pouring in from both the Netherlands and abroad.

As chairman of the board at Kadaster, the Netherlands’ Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency, Frank Tierolff worked to ensure that Kadaster stayed at the cutting edge of developments in cadastral registration and geodata.

To achieve this, he represented Kadaster both nationally and internationally at various organizations in the field of land registration and geo-information. As ambassador and co-chair, he represented Kadaster, the Netherlands and Europe in the United Nations initiative Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM). As a result, Tierolff was a highly respected and valued presence in the international geospatial community.

“The Kadaster meant a great deal to him. He was known as someone with profound knowledge, a clear vision on data and a vast international network. He will be deeply missed for his decisiveness, dedication, sense of humour, and above all his humanity,” Kadaster wrote in a statement on its website.

The large number of condolences on Kadaster’s LinkedIn page, from the Netherlands and around the world, reflects the deep respect and affection felt for him within the geospatial community.
