The digital mapping project is the result of a scientific collaboration between the Geophysics Service of the Department of Soil Protection in Ispra, Cartography and Remote Sensing Group, Department of Geophysics of the Lithosphere of OGS and Exploration & Production Division of Eni. The project stems from the need to provide the scientific world and, more generally, land managers, a representation of the gravity field that offers items of interest to establish at the regional scale, the geological-structural depth.
As such, it aspires to cover the gap in the current gravimetric Cartography Journal, among small-scale maps such as the Charter of the CNR gravimetric 1:500.000 and 1:100.000 scale maps published for a very small portion of the national territory . It ‘was the dominant production of digital data (raster and vector), and considered as most appropriate for advanced visualization tools and processing of geographic data.
