Intergraph Fulfils Technical Requirements of UK Government Strategic Data Sharing Initiative

Intergraph has established its GeoMedia SDI Pro product as a key supporter of interoperability standards that are essential prerequisites of the UK Location Strategy and the wider European INSPIRE Directive. UK Location, the pan-government initiative to improve the sharing and re-use of public sector location information, recently issued “INSPIRE View Service Resources”, a set of pre-qualification questions to suppliers.

This document asked suppliers to confirm their support of key interoperability standards critical to the ”UK Location Programme.” The central deliverable of the programme is the implementation of a national Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), a task which all European Union member states are obliged to complete under the European Commission’s INSPIRE Directive 2007/2/EC. The View Service capabilities enable users to make use of spatial data served by the SDI.

Intergraph is the first company to publish responses to the View Service pre-qualification questions. Robert Widz, Intergraph EMEA Director for Government said, “Intergraph is delighted to confirm GeoMedia SDI Pro’s compliance with UK Location’s View Service requirements. Intergraph was able to develop a comprehensive suite of SDI and INSPIRE products thanks to the experience our consultants  gained by working with European research programmes, INSPIRE Working Groups and successful implementations of regional, national and international INSPIRE-compliant web services and portals.”

Other recent SDI announcements by Intergraph include Austria’s national SDI for air traffic control and the public geoportal of the City of Bilbao, Spain.
