Inaugural Arabian Construction Week 2010 Hosts Over 5000 Visitors, Delegates and Construction Decision Makers

Arabian Construction Week, the region’s new construction industry international event incorporating four dedicated vertical trade exhibitions and two regional summits on sustainability, innovation and infrastructure, hosted over 5,000 visitors, delegates and construction industry professionals over three days, validating its status as the regions new industry platform for networking and business sourcing within the construction industry

Covered over 8,000 sq metre area at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the event held from 24-26 May comprised exhibitions on Green Building Middle East, Future-Build Middle East, Building Machinery Middle East and Civil Engineering Middle East. In addition, two concurrent summits – Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS) and the Green Building Middle East Summit and the Emirates Green BuildinG Council Focus Day – brought together over 700 participants and over 100 speakers.

Albert Douglas, CEO of Alomi Real Wood Floors, said: “The Arabian Construction Week 2010 in Abu Dhabi provided us an opportunity to meet with numerous high end decision makers from across the GCC and beyond. We have also won an order for the unique Alomi wood flooring product worth more than USD$2 million for a hotel and leisure complex in Riyadh that will be completed over three phases.

“I believe this project will lead to further orders in the coming months because of the business leads we have established at the event. Wood flooring is increasingly becoming popular in new residential and commercial projects in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE, and we look forward to extending our business offerings.”

A major highlight of the event was the The Green Building Middle East Exhibition at the Arabian Construction Week 2010 showcased premium sustainable construction products, while Future-Build Middle East served as the first dedicated single-sourcing platform for latest technology and innovative construction projects.

Wolfgang Douglas, CEO of Timberwolf Carpentry LLC, said:  “This show has proven to be one of the most important in our annual calendar based on the high level of quality clients we welcomed throughout the event, with some even proving to be fruitful leads. We have agreed on orders worth approximately US$1 million that will be brought to fruition over the next 9-12 months. The event in Abu Dhabi also opened up unprecedented opportunities that would have otherwise not been possible.”

The Civil Engineering Middle East showcased latest products and solutions for major infrastructure and transport projects that are rapidly transforming the Middle East landscape, while The Building Machinery Middle East exhibition brought together major industry brands and dealers to display cranes, excavators, heavy vehicles, machine tools, concrete, as well as waste and recycling equipment.

Shell Lubricants and the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs were the headline sponsors of Arabian Construction Week 2010 that also had Framecad, Green Precast Systems and Technologies LLC, and Commodore Steel Industries LLC as the gold sponsors. RMD Kwikform Middle East, Doka International and Peri LLC have participated as the silver sponsors while Etihad Airways was the official airline sponsor.

Organised by MECOM Forums/Clarion Events in partnership with MEED, Arabian Construction Week 2010 is proving to be a perfect platform for companies to display a full range of green building solutions as well as innovative engineering products and services to thousands of buyers from across the Middle East and neighbouring regions.
