Hexagon Digital Reality Announces Collaboration with NVIDIA

  • Rating12345

The Hexagon Digital Reality (HxDR) business unit has announced that it is integrating NVIDIA Omniverse and adopting OpenUSD. Hexagon, in a statement, said that the integration will “enable faster, more accessible creation of immersive, photorealistic digital twins from scanned data in the cloud.”

Commenting on the announcement, Eric McSherry, Vice President of Platforms and Solutions, HxDR, a Hexagon’s Geosystems division, said, “The benefits of digital twins are clear, but barriers to adoption remain high for many AECO stakeholders. Our integration with NVIDIA Omniverse lowers that threshold, making photorealistic mesh rendering more accessible.”

Further, Hexagon stated that the integration “accelerates the conversion of point cloud data into high-quality visualizations, reducing the reliance on specialized resources such as digital artistry or high-end desktop software.” Specifically, “the new workflow allows users to produce detailed, photorealistic renderings in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods,” which “dramatically improves rendering speed, allowing professionals to move from raw scan data to final output with greater efficiency.”

Moreover, Hexagon asserted, the integration “further supports Hexagon’s vision of democratizing digital reality, empowering teams across AEC, surveying, oil and gas/process manufacturing, discrete manufacturing, and more industries to collaborate and create at scale.”

Hexagon said that the beta release will be available soon, and early access will be made available to selected Hexagon Digital Reality users.
