Government of Canada Invests in Clean Energy Technology in British Columbia

Innovative action in British Columbia is leading to new clean energy technologies. The Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, announced today that Power Measurement Ltd. will receive up to $3 million through the Government of Canada’s Clean Energy Fund, to demonstrate a smart grid electricity system. The energy management business intelligence platform will determine the ability of a smart grid electricity system to optimize energy resources, including renewables, in an institutional building complex at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). The project will also determine the ability of commercial customers, at sites in Calgary and Toronto, to use electricity according to different prices during peak demand periods. It is anticipated that this smart grid technology could allow buildings to reduce their electricity consumption by 10–25 percent. Read More
