Geospatial Week Has More than 7,000 Registrants

MundoGEO, the leader in Latin America in media and communication for the geospatial and location industries, promoted a Geospatial Week (http://mundogeo.com/webinar/_mail/semana2013/) from September 9 thru 13. Five webinars were conducted in partnership with geospatial companies and institutions, gathering 7,125 registrants from 37 countries around the world, mostly in Latin America.

“The number of registrants and attendees in the Geospatial Week exceeded our expectations, consolidating it as the greatest virtual meeting for the Latin American geospatial community”, says Eduardo Freitas, coordinator of MundoGEO webinars. “It was not just the amount of people that surprised us, but also the high quality of the content presented in all speeches and also the questions and comments made by the attendees” he concludes.

During all of the webinars, the participants could learn about new geospatial technologies and also post comments and questions directly to the speakers. Check out the highlights of each webinar:

• Go Monitor: Monitoring with Satellite Images
On September 9 Astrium Geo Services presented for more than 970 people its new monitoring service with high and very high resolution images, which allows to remotely verify the changes that occur in your area of interest, regardless of location, resolution or revisits desired.

• Application of Mobile GIS in the Management of Environmental Impacts
In this webinar, presented on Tuesday for 971 participants, Leica Geosystems demonstrated the possible applications using mobile GIS, through field surveys, to investigate variables related to environmental impacts.

• Big Data Applications for Traffic Analysis
On Wednesday, Maplink presented a webinar about the Big Data for complex traffic analyzes, a new trend in the geospatial industry.

• Advanced Geoprocessing with gvSIG
In this webinar, presented on Thursday by gvSIG Association, advanced geoprocessing tools for raster and vector analysis available in gvSIG Desktop were demonstrated.

• The Benefits of EUMETCast System
Closing the Geospatal Week, on September 13 the EUMETCast was demonstrated, a low cost system for transmission of information by satellite in real time, designed to distribute Meoteosat Meteorological Satellite Second Generation (MSG) images, as well as products and services of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). By the end of the webinar, a GPS navigator, two books and MundoGEO magazine subscriptions were raffled among all the webinars subscribers.
