Plant hardiness zones in the United States have been revised this year by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the first update to the map in 12 years. The map divides regions of the country into various growing zones that are based on each area’s average lowest temperature, helping farmers and gardeners anticipate how well a plant will survive winter temperatures in their region.
