In recent years, the possibility for imported communicable diseases has been greatly increased in Taiwan due to the international interchange, frequent traveling, the adoption of alien workers, etc. In addition, local communicable diseases may occur occasionally, which severely challenges the related units’ epidemic prevention policy, epidemic examination, epidemic surveillance and the abilities to examine and research epidemics. Center for Disease Control, Department of Health, Executive Yuan is the competent authority that is responsible for the prevention and cure of domestic communicable diseases.
