Dun & Bradstreet Awards First Geospatial Data Science Scholarship

Dun & Bradstreet Government Solutions has awarded the 2019 Dun & Bradstreet Geospatial Data Science Scholarship to Yaneev Golombek, a Ph.D. candidate in civil engineering at the University of Colorado.

The scholarship, given in partnership with the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, was created to fund a graduate student in data science with a focus on solving data-intensive, large-scale, location-based problems using engineering, computer science, math and/or spatial science to advance geospatial data science understanding and capabilities.

“We are pleased to partner with the U. S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation in support of emerging talent like Yaneev,” said Tim Solms, Dun & Bradstreet general manager, Government Solutions. “Many of our government clients rely on geospatial intelligence to fulfill their diversified mission objectives, and we’re proud to play a part in accelerating innovation in the technology that enables government to do its job more effectively and efficiently.”

Dun & Bradstreet will donate $15,000 in scholarship funding to Golombek to support his research in 3D geospatial/analytical applications to support transportation.

Golombek’s research focuses on providing 3D mapping tools and descriptive statistic models to transport and urban design researchers. This research aim s to heighten the quality of transportation network development and improve the understanding of the relationship between transportation infrastructure and public safety.
