  • Rating12345

The Department of Posts (DoP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ESRI India Technologies Private Limited, a leading provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) software and solutions.

The collaboration is set to elevate the DIGIPIN initiative—a digital addressing system—by integrating ESRI India’s high-resolution imagery, street basemaps, and Living Atlas portal.

The MoU was formalized at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, with key representatives from both organizations in attendance. Shri Harpreet Singh, Member (Operations), DoP, emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership, stating that ESRI’s geospatial technology will empower citizens and government services with greater accuracy and accessibility.

Mr. Agendra Kumar, Managing Director of ESRI India, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the role of GIS in driving efficiency and supporting India’s broader digital transformation.

Key highlights of the MoU include:

  • Access to ESRI India’s high-resolution basemaps for DIGIPIN
  • Integration with ESRI’s Living Atlas portal for broader GIS community access
  • Technical support for seamless service integration
  • Enhanced precision and user-friendliness of the DIGIPIN system

This collaboration is expected to make DIGIPIN more robust, citizen-friendly, and effective in delivering location-based services across India’s vast postal network.
