A new computer model of the Chimacum Creek Basin built to simulate “what-if” scenarios for basin groundwater managers indicates that most of the water recharging the groundwater system flows directly out to marine waters and coastal areas, according to a report by the U.S. Geological Survey.

Coastal ocean stakeholders in the U.S. Caribbean now have new data available to inform decision making. The Caribbean Coastal Ocean Observing System (CariCOOS), under the auspices of the Caribbean Regional Association for Coastal Ocean Observing, a regional member of the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), deployed the region’s fifth data buoy today.

Astrium, Europe’s leading space technology company, has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Google Inc. to provide satellite imagery in support of Google Maps, Google Earth and other Google products and services. The Living Planet Symposium has come to a close in Edinburgh, and a week of talking about past, present and future satellite missions, as well as the scientific challenges facing us, has prepared Earth observation for a new chapter.
