Montreal Protocol Endorsed for Fast Climate Mitigation

Efforts to phase down the super greenhouse gas called hydrofluorocarbons, or HFCs, received a boost today when the Climate & Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short-Lived Climate Pollutants agreed to “to work toward a phasedown in the production and consumption of HFCs under the Montreal Protocol.”

USGS Releases More Than 400 Updated US Topo Maps of Alaska

More than 400 new topographic maps are now available for the state of Alaska. The new maps are part of the U.S. Geological Survey Alaska Mapping Initiative, to update foundational data for the state and to replace the existing maps that are about 50 years old.

Difficult-to-image Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area was completely covered by cloud-free images from SPOT 5 (spatial resolution of 2.5 m, color) and SPOT 6 satellites (1.5 m, color) within the summer 2013 period.
