The inaugural GIM International Summit – taking place on 10-12 February 2016 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands – is an initiative of GIM International. The GIM International Summit will draw thought leaders and key decision-makers from the global geomatics sector.
The GIM International Summit is focused on discussing the future of the field – for educational institutes, industry members and policymakers alike. The discussion will be fuelled by speakers from outside the traditional geomatics world, all of whom are experts in their own field. They will explain the needs and desires of the wider world and how they would like to see the geomatics sector develop.
The summit will be very much based on the concept of ‘inside looking out’ rather than merely insiders’ perspectives. The main topics of the Summit – Water, Food Security and Social Justice – will be brought together under the overarching theme of ‘Seeking Space for Future Development’. The GIM International Summit will be future oriented, forward looking, explorative and sometimes even provocative.
The GIM International Summit will offer ample opportunities to network with peers, both during the conference and at social events throughout the cosmopolitan city of Amsterdam.
Endorsing partners of the GIM International Summit are Kadaster International, ITC University of Twente, FIG, GSDI, ICA, ISPRS, and RICS.
The Conference Committee comprises Martin Kodde from Fugro, Rohan Bennett from ITC, Kees de Zeeuw from Kadaster International, and Gemma Betsema, LANDac, together with Wim van Wegen and Durk Haarsma from GIM International.

Current developments show that in the near future the wide availability of low cost, short range radio technology, along with advances in wireless networking, will enable wireless adhoc sensor networks to become commonly deployed. The ASPRS annual conferences have been renamed to the Imaging & Geospatial Technology Forum (IGTF). This new brand gives ASPRS annual conferences a fresh and recognizable name, something easy and memorable.
The redesign has been created to encompass the broadest terms for our industry, “Imaging” and “Geospatial”, while incorporating the idea of “Technology” as the center and reason we all come together. We decided to use the word “Forum” instead of conference because Forum means to assemble or a meeting place for the discussion of questions, promoting open discussion and sharing. The Locate Conference (Locate16) is the national conference of the spatial and surveying industries of Australia and New Zealand. The event is an initiative of the Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI), Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) and Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) and will be held 12-14 April 2016 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
