Cadcorp SIS Selected by the National Water Commission of Mexico for River Channel Management Project

  • Rating12345

Mexican business partner of British GIS software developer, Cadcorp, has been selected by the Comisión Nacional de Agua (CONAGUA) to supply GIS software and services for a nationwide water management project.  Argeomática S.A. de C.V. will be responsible for developing and managing spatial information systems to address the conflicts brought about by increased pressures on river networks caused by rapid and uncontrolled land-use development in Mexico.  The project falls within the remit of CONAGUA as it is the government agency responsible managing and promoting the sustainable use of the nation’s water resources on behalf of the people of Mexico.

The project will involve Argeomática deploying a range of products and technologies from the Cadcorp Spatial Information System ® (Cadcorp SIS®) product suite. Geotechnical specialists in Argeomática will be using Cadcorp SIS in support of three project deliverables. Firstly they will  develop a geospatial portal for recording building applications and appeals. Secondly, they will use Cadcorp SIS as the geospatial component of a building permit and cadastral database. Finally, Cadcorp SIS technologies and products will be used to support a range of tasks associated with land survey and spatial analysis. These will include for example: topographic, photogrammetric, bathymetric, GPS, LIDAR, and satellite surveying; soil surveys; 3d visualisation; integration with hydraulic modelling applications; and the production of orthophotos, maps and plans.

“Argeomática has been using Cadcorp SIS very successfully to deliver geospatial projects on behalf of federal, state, and municipal governments for a number of years”, said Jaime Montesinos, General Manager of Argeomatica. “It makes sense to deploy Cadcorp SIS to support this high profile project with CONAGUA. The software suite not only provides the powerful  geo-processing functionality that we  require as professionals to support our work in creating and analysing spatial information;  it also allows us to share the spatial information we have generated with those agencies, organisations, and individuals that have an interest in sustainable development.”

“We congratulate Jaime Montesinos  and his specialist team, on winning this significant project.” said Mike O’Neil, CEO of Cadcorp.  “It is a vindication of the level of respect with which Argeomática is held in the Mexican geospatial market.”
