  • Rating12345

Agenda 21 is Berlin’s Workplan for the 21st century. In June 1992 leaders from most of the world’s countries came to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to discuss an Agenda for the 21st century. 178 countries signed the 300-page action programme including Germany. The signatories to the Agenda 21 treaty start with the assumption that social, ecological and economic problems have to be thought about and solved together. They can not be split apart. For example, bad business conditions can lead to poverty and to worsening environmental conditions. A damaged environment makes it difficult for people to live etc. For these reasons it is important for the three areas of Agenda 21 to be bound together.
