Autodesk first introduced the integration of BIM and Esri’s GIS data through InfraWorks, enabling the opportunity of better infrastructure design by establishing a richer, real-world context model of the project. InfraWorks design software supports BIM processes. Civil Engineering professionals can conceptualize, optimize, and visualize infrastructure projects—all in the context of the built and natural environment.
As the connection between BIM and GIS deepens, InfraWorks continues to evolve, providing even more streamlined flows of data. The Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS maintains a live link to ArcGIS Online, ensuring access to the most up-to-date data by all stakeholders across all stages of the project. Watch the video below to learn about the latest upgrades to the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS in InfraWorks (2020.1):
Earlier this month, Autodesk also announced the latest release of Civil 3D, which brought access to GIS data within Civil 3D for the very first time.
Join us October 3rd for a special webinar co-presented by Autodesk and Esri. We’ll discuss the recent updates to the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS applied to Civil 3D and InfraWorks.
Beyond enhancements to the integration of BIM and GIS, InfraWorks (2020.1) packs several additional updates we believe customers will appreciate.
We’re excited to announce that with this latest release of InfraWorks, multi-user access is now available to InfraWorks within the Autodesk® AEC Collection. This brings a more flexible licensing option for AEC Collection subscribers and Enterprise Business Agreement (EBA) customers. By being able to share access (up to the number of seats purchased for InfraWorks), customers now have a more flexible option to manage licensing for their teams. Learn more about this update here.
We completely redesigned and improved the user interface to align with the AEC Collection and promote a smoother transition across products within the collection. The overall effect makes for a more consistent and productive modeling experience. Watch the below video to get a tour of the new user interface in InfraWorks:
Last but not least, we continue to deliver added value to civil structures and transportation design customers. InfraWorks (2020.1) includes three key upgrades for these industries:
The enhanced civil structures workflow provides transparency and additional flexibility during the export process from InfraWorks. Additionally, Revit users can now enjoy greater flexibility when creating a bridge model in Revit by being able to make use of any customized Revit template.
We’ve enhanced the roadway profile tools to allow users to edit profile elements in the Profile view or in the Canvas view. Learn more by viewing the video below.
Users can re-import Civil 3D alignment data without changing the elements of their InfraWorks model, which benefits bridge designers who may receive updated roadway alignment information from Civil 3D.
