Poland Implements Esri-based INSPIRE Solution

A new site, “open budget” has launched recently in Poland, sharing structured data on government budgets with the general public. PDF documents from the ministry of Finance have been converted into a structured dataset for everybody to use. The site appears to be a call for more transparency and openness within Polish government. The site is a project of the polish Centre Cyfrowe, a think-and-act tank on e- and open government. On the webpage, the Centre Cyfrowe calls upon the general public to create visualisation of the budget data. An interesting visualisation already created by the Centre Cyfrowe is this breakdown of the budget in its main categories. Submitted visualisations, whether graphics/images or apps will be judged and a total of 1500 PLN (approx. 350 EUR) prize money will be awarded to the best contestants. The visualisation contest runs until May 31st.
