Leica GeoMoS v5.2 Further Enhances Flexibility and Productivity

  • Rating12345

Leica Geosystems has released a new software version of its automated deformation monitoring solution. Leica GeoMoS v5.2 supports the new Leica Viva TS15 Imaging Total Station, a power saving mode, and many more new features making Leica GeoMoS more flexible and productive.

Product Manager Michael Rutschmann comments “in Leica GeoMoS v5.2 many customer wishes have been realized. The latest Leica Geosystems sensor technology and other new added features will further increase the productivity of our customers.”

New Leica Viva TS15 Imaging Total Station Supported
GeoMoS v5.2 supports the latest Leica Viva TS15 Robotic Imaging Total Stations. The “TS15 I” model is equipped with a wide-angle 5 MP camera (OVC feature) that captures a high resolution image of exactly what the total station sees. Obstructions in the line of sight can be inspected remotely, avoiding safety concerns in high-risk environments. The camera can also be used to take images of survey relevant objects for documentation purposes.

In installations where the access to the total station is not easy, but new prisms have been added to the system, the camera picture can be used to position the telescope close to new points. The ATR is then able to detect the prisms and take a high precision 3D measurement.

Power Save Mode
This new option can be used to switch off the total station during the measurement pause to save power. The new power saving mode is very useful in remote installations, an example of this is when the energy supply is limited due to the use of an autonomous energy supply, such as solar panels or fuel cells.

New Limit Level Message Option
In the previous version, messages were recorded and sent together with every measurement or result that exceeded a set limit. The newly introduced message “Limit level changed” only occurs if the measurement value increases from the lower to the upper limit level. Should the observation scatter around a certain limit level e.g. due to measurement noise, this new message is only recorded and sent only once now.
The new message “absolute limit level has changed” can also be sent once to end customers to inform them about a critical situation.

Suspending “Normal” and “Special” Groups from a Measurement Cycle
In order to determine high accurate and actual orientation corrections for a Total Station setup as an important part of the automatic measurement cycle, a Free Station is measured at regular intervals. The best possible quality of the orientation correction will be computed. Under certain weather conditions (unstable atmosphere) the quality of the correction may vary. The system detects such irregularities and will automatically suspend the measurements to the next monitoring point group. As soon as the weather conditions are stable again the measurement process will continue.

Further Enhancements
Additional customer wishes and features have been implemented to Leica GeoMoS v5.2:

Support of the Vaisala WXT520 meteo sensor
Correction group quality checks
Enhanced read-out of Total Station data
New barometric meteo correction
Smoothing filter in GeoMos Analyzer
Offline Activation of software licenses
