City of Greater Sudbury Honoured for Effective Enterprise Approach to GIS

ESRI Canada today presented the City of Greater Sudbury with an Award of Excellence for improving data management across its organization by deploying ESRI’s enterprise geographic information system (GIS) solution.  This has provided the City’s various departments with access to consistent, up-to-date information needed to support daily operations and deliver enhanced municipal services. The City has been using ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop technology for many years to support processes in areas such as planning, public works and emergency management.  With numerous datasets maintained in several desktops and only updated periodically, employees saw the need for an enterprise GIS that could centralize the data and improve its quality and accessibility.
