On the 5th of March 2012, exactly 500 years after Mercator’s birth in Ruppelmonde (Belgium), the European Council of Geodetic Engineers will celebrate our illustrious predecessor. At the same occasion, we will launch the first “Day of the European Surveyor and GeoInformation”. Special events will take place all over Europe. A solemn celebration will be organized in Brussels.
