Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) and Plexus Controls Corporation of Ottawa, Canada announced today that they have signed an agreement to collaborate on the development of solutions that leverage positioning technology, wireless supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solutions and mobile field management tools to enhance productivity for consultants and professionals in the environmental industry. Under the agreement, Trimble will have worldwide rights to use Plexus Control’s wireless SCADA and mobile monitoring technologies to provide products for the industry.
Plexus Control’s wireless SCADA and distributed control system (DCS) technologies monitor and control well levels on remediation sites and landfills. All monitoring data is sent to a hub site using wireless communications and the Internet which allows operators to remotely monitor sites more effectively. Plexus Control’s monitoring and compliance technology with Trimble’s industry-leading mobile worker solutions can provide environmental professionals with new portable monitoring applications that help improve site compliance and increase mobile worker productivity for a variety of projects.
“Monitoring larger environmental projects and sites are challenges professionals in the environmental industry face on a daily basis. Making sure those sites are managed properly, efficiently and comply with environmental regulations is demanding,” said Elmar Lenz, director of Trimble’s Environmental Solutions Business Area. “Collaborating with Plexus Controls will allow us to augment our end-to-end solutions to address the entire environmental workflow from data collection through analysis for environmental compliance and operational optimization.”
“The environmental and waste management industry is being challenged by tighter regulations and controls that govern their business,” said Bill Cuming, president and CEO of Plexus Controls. “We look forward to partnering with Trimble. Trimble’s capabilities in positioning technology and data and process management are an excellent complement to Plexus’ environmental monitoring, control and compliance products that can assist our customers to achieve regulatory compliance as well as optimize their operational efficiency.”
