Bridge enthusiasts are now able to get a preview of the fixed link that might one day connect Germany and Denmark. The conceptual design, which was recently released by Femern A/S, features a cable-stayed bridge that spans 19 kilometres of the Baltic Sea. If commissioned, the bridge will rank among the world’s longest cable-stayed structures with two main spans of 724 metres. The structure’s vertical clearance reaches 65 metres at the highest point – enough to allow ample room for giant cargo ships and oil tankers.
