Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer Cadcorp has announced that SSi Solutions Ltd. has selected Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System as the digital mapping/GIS core of the new SSi Fire Hydrant Management System (FHMS). This fourth generation of SSi’s hydrant management system is a powerful, digital map-based management tool that is fully compliant with the UK fire service’s Convergence Outcome 52: Water Supplies. The product enables fire and rescue services to manage the entire life-cycle of their fire hydrants and open water sources. The new system supports both office-based and point-of-inspection input of data, optionally using PDAs, as well as updating and reviewing of operational status and management information. While only recently launched, the new SSi FHMS has already been installed at both Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, and is currently being installed at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
