INPE Record of 312.7 km ² Deforestation in the Amazon in June

The National Institute for Space Research (INPE) announced on Tuesday (2) the report of its monitoring system Real Time Deforestation of the Amazon (Stop) for the month of June. Were detected 312.7 km ² of forest cutting in the region during the period – an area equivalent to 195 times the Ibirapuera Park. The number is 28.3% higher than June last year, when the space agency reported cleared of 243.7 km ². It is also 16.7% higher than in May this year when the index was 267.9 km ².
