Douglas Batson joined the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) as a political geography analyst in 2004.  He holds a Master of Education from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science degree in geography from Excelsior College.  Batson is a National Certified Counselor, a Human Services Board Certified Practitioner and a member of the Association of American Geographers.  He previously worked for the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Department of Justice, and is retired from the U.S. Army Reserve.  Batson recently visited ILS offices in Ghana to observe land survey and registration activities.
