OpenLayers is an open source Java Script library for displaying map data in web browsers. It provides an API for building rich web-based mapping applications. This one day course will introduce attendees to OpenLayers. Delegates will learn how to create a map using style declarations and map initialization code. The course will enable delegates to understand working with layers, including layer parameters, layer projection and caching tiles.

In addition, the course will provide an extensive understanding of mapping controls, including pan and zoom, scale bars and selection tools. The course ends with an exploration of GeoExt, allowing delegates to create widgets and popups, including feature information windows.
