MecSoft Europe Offers New Software TerraFlat

  • Rating12345

MecSoft Europe GmbH, distributor of CAD/CAM software in Europe, has expanded its portfolio by another sophisticated product: TerraFlat from Tri-D Technologies. TerraFlat software was designed to produce 2D surfaces ready for production directly from 3D CAD data. TerraFlat can flatten any shape, from automotive seats and custom awnings to sports shoes or furniture. It stands for substantial savings in time, material and money compared to the standard method of design and preparation of cutting patterns.

TerraFlat allows users to effortlessly create 2D cut patterns from complex 3D shapes. It is made for importing either 3D geometry created by other CAD systems, or scanned/digitized models through surfaced based modeling software. Once imported, TerraFlat converts the geometry into the software’s internal format to then accurately unfold the model into user-specified flat surfaces using natural, physically based cutting tools. The user has the choice to either have the initial cuts suggested or to determine them manually. Once the desired cuts are marked, the software computes the projection of these 3D surfaces into two dimensions. The 2D point data there from resulting can be directly exported into an appropriate format for cutting machines.

It is only three mouse clicks for flattening – quick and easy as can be. In addition, numerous helpful functions are available, e.g. photorealistic visualization of the desired cuts/stitches on the 3D model, thus allowing a detailed pre-visualization of the final product without having to build physical mock-ups. Furthermore, the user can run strain and sag analyses to discover existing problems and to take necessary action before starting with prototyping.
TerraFlat is being successfully used by many companies worldwide. Read More
