Now, Private Users Closer to Using ISRO Data

The Centre and Isro on Tuesday announced an upgraded remote sensing data sharing policy, making the process of accessing images easier. The previous policy allowed Isro to release data of up to 5.8 metre resolution, instead of 1 metre now.  An Isro official told TOI, “Considering the availability of data on commercial websites, the government has decided to provide data up to 1 metre to users without any difficulty.” Space experts say it is apparent that the government and Isro felt the need to liberalize the remote sensing data sharing policy because of stiff competition from other organizations, especially commercial websites.
