Hyperspec Point & Stare Sensor Named as Finalist for Prestigious 2010 Prism Award

  • Rating12345

Headwall Photonics’ Hyperspec Point & Stare sensor was named as a finalist for the 2010 Prism Award in the Defense & Security category. The prestigious Prism Award honors leading companies and products around the world that demonstrate the highest degree of innovation in the field of photonics.

The Hyperspec© Point & Stare sensor is a fully integrated imaging sensor that is used for unattended, ground-based surveillance applications such as forward operating base security and border patrol. The sensor identifies objects within the field of view based on the target’s unique spectral signature, i.e., the chemical fingerprint of the objects within the field of view. The Hyperspec instrument has already been deployed by many DoD organizations. The Hyperspec Point & Stare sensor can be trailer or mast-mounted offering a range of deployment options.

“The Hyperspec© Point & Stare sensor is a truly innovative product that, for the first time, provides the military, defense, and homeland security markets with a ground-based, stand-alone hyperspectral sensor capable of high performance surveillance and reconnaissance applications. We are extremely honored to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious award.” said David Bannon, CEO of Headwall Photonics. “Being named a finalist for the 2010 Prism Award is recognition of our engineering innovation and the technical leadership we’ve gained through the commercialization of integrated spectral imaging instruments.”
