3D Web Visualization of Geographic Data @ AGILE 2012 Lyon, France

  • Rating12345

We are pleased to announce the 1st Workshop on 3D Web Visualization of Geographic Data, which will be held on April 24, 2012 in Avignon, France, in conjunction with AGILE 2012 International Conference on Geographic Information Science. The main focus is the visualisation of 3D geospatial data on the web. The new challenges and opportunities are comparable to the ones we faced a few years ago, when web mapping was just starting. New opportunities arise with WebGL enabled browsers, both on the desktop and on mobile devices. Business opportunities are also emerging, taking advantage of 3D spatial data, and providing smooth transitions between the outdoor and indoor spaces.

MAIN TOPICS
Workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following:

● 3D GIS topics
● Augmented and virtual reality
● BIM, DEM, data collection, model building
● Formats (CityGML, X3D, etc)
● 3D support in spatial enabled DBMS

● Web and mobile 3D visualization, interaction and analysis
● Web services (W3DS, WTS, WPVS)
● 3D urban and landscape styling and presentation
● HTML5, WebGL, X3 DOM geospatial support
● Generalization, LOD management, tiling
● 3D browser and mobile compatibility, performance and benchmarks

● Geospatial 3D application areas
● Disaster management
● Navigation and simulation
● Urban planning
● Energy, solar irradiation, wind farms
● Network planning and transportation, wireless networks
● Environment

SUBMISSION FORMAT
Extended abstract, 2000 to 3000 words manuscript (about 6 pages). Papers will be reviewed by the
program committee.

PUBLICATION
Authors of accepted papers will be invited to include the results of the workshop discussion in the
full paper, to be published on a special issue of the International Journal of 3D Information
Modeling (IJ3DIM).
