Data Accessing quality global change data can be a time consuming and frustrating process. Although such data is publicly available and typically free, a significant amount of effort must be invested before the data is ready for analysis. Files for each time period, typically at sizes of over 100 mb, must be downloaded individually. The data then needs to be imported and pre-processed. Clark Labs offers archives of such data, pre-processed for immediate analysis and mapping within IDRISI Taiga. The data archives are very well-suited for the Earth Trends Modeler application included within IDRISI. Earth Trends Modeler, a vertical application used to explore and analyze trends and dynamics in image time series data, is especially useful for those researching global climate change and ecosystem impacts. Global Data Archive 1: 0.05 Degree MODIS Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) 2000 – 2010 and Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) 2000 – 2009 Global Data Archive 2: 0.1 AVHRR Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) 1981 – 2000 Global Data Archive 3: 1 Km Global Elevation Model Global Data Archive 4: Monthly Global Precipitation (GPCP) 1979 – 2009, (TRMM) 1998 – 2010, and Sea Surface Temperature 1982 – 2010US$30 per Data CD |
Remote Sensing Textbook Remote Sensing with IDRISI Taiga is a new textbook, co-authored by Timothy Warner and David J. Campagna and published by Geocarto International Centre in Hong Kong. Currently available from Clark Labs, the text is ideal for a hands-on, guided exploration of the fundamental issues in remote sensing and image processing, using the techniques and approaches within IDRISI Taiga. The text introduces the reader to the display and basic processing procedures for enhancement, analysis and classification of satellite imagery, and trains the user in how to accomplish these tasks within the IDRISI environment. The text includes a CD of sample data from a number of locations around the globe, covering a variety of natural and human-modified environments. US$50 |
CartaLinx CartaLinx, software for the development and editing of spatial databases, allows you to create coverages, consisting of the spatial definitions of features in vector format, and associated attribute values files. These data are then typically exported to a GIS. CartaLinx accepts data from a variety of sources. Over 500 digitizing tablets are also supported through the Virtual Tablet Interface™, sold separately for only $45. US$400 |
