The 112.pt was awarded with the 112 National System of Excellence by the Association of the European Emergency Number (EENA) in a ceremony held on November 8th, in Brussels. Critical Software was the chosen technology partner of the Ministry of Interior to operate a major overhaul to 112.pt, which has now been recognized as an example of emergency services provided in the European Union. This award acknowledges the profound change and strategic response to assistance and emergency services in Portugal. In the genesis of this redesign is the work carried out by Critical Software, which made the system capable of recording, geo-locating, screening, registering and call forwarding, as well as assuring contacts management and interoperability between agencies.
“The actions undertaken focused on the development of a new technological platform that called for a complete integration of various systems and a reinforcement of the entire infrastructure of Information Technology and Communication. The core of the entire work was based on reliability, consistency and interoperability of the system, always with the aim of enabling a better service when it comes to response times to any reported emergency, “ explains Filipe Freitas, Critical Software’s Business Development Manager.
