Xer Tech secures BVLOS approvals in Switzerland and Hungary

  • Rating12345

Xer Tech has reached a key regulatory milestone after obtaining approval to conduct Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations in Switzerland. In parallel, the company announced that its partner and customer, TP Aviation Inspections, has secured a corresponding national BVLOS approval in Hungary for flights using Xer Tech’s X8 drone platform.

The approvals mark an important step in validating the technical maturity and operational reliability of the X8 platform and enable more advanced drone missions across European airspace. BVLOS permissions are widely regarded as a critical prerequisite for scaling commercial drone operations, particularly in sectors such as infrastructure inspection, surveying and industrial monitoring.

Towards a broader rollout

According to Xer Tech, the inclusion of the X8 drone in operational fleets that have received national BVLOS authorisations demonstrates that the platform meets stringent regulatory, safety and performance requirements. Authorities assessed factors including system reliability, endurance and operational robustness as part of the approval processes.

The company views the Swiss and Hungarian approvals as important reference cases supporting the broader commercial rollout of the X8 platform in Europe. Xer Tech also indicated that the approvals open the door to deeper collaboration with operators conducting advanced BVLOS missions in additional markets.

Tailored to a wide-range of applications

Commenting on the development, Erik Herlyn, CEO of Xer Tech, said: “The operational BVLOS approvals in Switzerland and Hungary represent a strategically important value driver for Xer Tech.” He added that the approvals confirm the platform’s readiness for commercial deployment across multiple European markets, strengthening the company’s competitive position, lowering barriers to new customer contracts and supporting scalable growth as the business prepares for its planned transaction and longer-term value creation.

Xer Tech’s unmanned aerial vehicle platforms are designed to carry a wide range of sensors and heavy payloads tailored to professional applications. The X8 drone can be configured with technologies such as high-definition and multispectral cameras, Lidar, infrared sensors, Optical Gas Imaging systems, ground-penetrating radar and sonar, making it particularly well suited for surveying, inspection and specialized industrial use cases.
