Wingtra Launches Corridor Mapping with its 1.10 Release

  • Rating12345

The new corridor mapping feature in the latest (1.10) Wingtra software release enables fast, efficient coverage of long, narrow stretches with either of WingtraOne’s RX1R II or QX1 payloads. With the touch of a few buttons, customers can now enjoy the broad coverage and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) operational flexibility that WingtraOne is known for when running large, linear plans.

Wingtra corridor drone mapping features bring a new level of efficiency, as well as high accuracy and resolution, to the following types of aerial mapping projects:

  • Road construction, inspection or maintenance
  • Railway track monitoring and inspection
  • Pipeline and power line inspection
  • Environmental research, e.g., river mapping

The new corridor mapping software feature offers options for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) or visual line of sight (VLOS) operation, depending on local regulations. For BVLOS corridor mapping plans, WingtraOne can cover 6-8 km in one flight, and for VLOS, each leg will measure around 2-3 km.

Long corridor mapping

WingtraOne’s corridor mapping features combines broad coverage, striking image results and easy planning for long, narrow mapping projects. This entire map was captured WingtraOne in a single BVLOS flight. [Hover to zoom in on map features.]

Flight planning is simple: just program the overall flight plan, fly the first leg of your survey, land, and move to the start of the next leg to start again. All of this becomes even easier with Wingtra’s fully automated functionality, including vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). Instead of scouting wide-open fields to take-off and land, users can run flights from confined spaces along roads, ditches, or worksites and on rocky terrain.

WingtraOne’s VTOL and fixed-wing capabilities offer high accuracy and broad-coverage from just about anywhere. For those mapping corridors in challenging, rural or industrial environments, this solution opens possibilities for easy flight planning and repeat surveying. To streamline flight planning even more, WingtraPilot also enables the design of corridor mapping plans from KML files.

This latest 1.10 Wingtra release also features improved, softer landings; enhanced user-drone communication around PPK status and high altitudes; special control for flight close to the Earth’s magnetic poles, and a leaner WingtraPilot planning page with a more seamless in-flight display
