Herndon, Virginia, April 5, 2016 —The continued expansion of the GEOINT Community and the critical importance of a professional organization representing a global geospatial intelligence workforce is evident. More than 1,000 individuals have become members of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) since it launched a new Individual Membership program in June 2015. Additionally, USGIF this month surpassed 260 Organizational Members including industry, government, and academic organizations. This increase is a reflection of USGIF’s value as it executes its vision and commitment to build the community, advance the tradecraft, and accelerate innovation.
“Reaching these milestones is truly a momentous occasion for USGIF,” said Bill Allder III, USGIF’s membership development manager. “These numbers confirm that the Foundation’s mission continues to be vital to the GEOINT Community. Not only does the increase in membership strengthen the collective voice of the GEOINT Community but it also further establishes USGIF as the professional organization for GEOINT professionals around the globe.”
USGIF membership provides significant value to individuals as well as exceptional opportunities to accommodate the needs and interests of organizations of all types and sizes across the broader GEOINT Community.
“It’s gratifying and humbling to have 262 organizations and more than 1,000 individuals join USGIF,” said USGIF CEO Keith J. Masback. “People and organizations vote with their feet and their dollars, and our growth validates the original premise of establishing USGIF as a nonprofit educational foundation. Increased participation in our working groups and attendance at our events, combined with growth in our accredited academic programs reaffirms USGIF’s leadership and role as a unique convening authority. Additionally, the professional diversity represented in our individual and organizational members is reflective of the ongoing GEOINT Revolution and the expansion of geospatial intelligence well beyond the traditional IC, DoD, and DHS spheres into both state and local governments, as well as the commercial marketplace.”
USGIF’s individual membership program was introduced for a more personalized member experience beyond corporate memberships. USGIF built an individual membership program to complement its organizational membership program and offer the community more opportunities to engage. The individual membership program offers industry, government, military, academia, young professionals, and law enforcement and first responders a closer connection and more support from the Foundation.
Not only does USGIF individual membership yield great professional value, it also provides financial incentives. In addition to gaining deep insight to community issues and access to community leaders, membership includes discounts on USGIF programs, including up to $100 off GEOINT 2016 Symposium registration. Non-members registering for the Symposium, which takes place May 15-18 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, can become a USGIF individual member during the GEOINT 2016 registration process.
