URISA’s GISCorps Activities During Esri User Conference

Des Plaines, IL, July 7, 2015 – URISA’s GISCorps has announced several activities coinciding with Esri’s User Conference in San Diego, July 20-24, 2015. All interested individuals are invited to learn more about this program which coordinates short term, volunteer based GIS services to underprivileged communities around the world. 

This year’s activities include :

1)      Map Gallery Display, Monday July 20, 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Sail Area: This year, the URISA GISCorps display will be centrally located, as part of the Ebola exhibit area along with the World Health Organization, International Medical Corps, and Direct Relief. Members of the GISCorps Core Committee and volunteers will be at the booth during the event to discuss recent missions and how to get involved.

2)      Ebola Project Presentation, Tuesday July 21, 3:30 to 4:15 pm at Demo Theater 1 – Nonprofit: NetHope and GISCorps will give a presentation titled “Ebola Communications Capacity Building – ArcGIS and GISCorps to the Rescue”. Melodie Grubbs will present the work of the GISCorps team.

3)      Special Achievement Award (SAG) Ceremony on Wednesday July 22, 3:30 to 5:30 pm in Ballroom 20 B/C/D: This year, URISA’s GISCorps and NetHope will be the recipients of a SAG award. We are honored to once again receive this award on behalf of our volunteers.

4)      Annual Presentation/Meeting on Thursday July 23, 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm in Room 25C. Members of the URISA GISCorps Core Committee and several volunteers will be presenting.
