UK Location Data Sharing Operational Guidance – Licensing and Charging

  • Rating12345

This is the second part of the UK Location Data Sharing Operational Guidance.  The guidance supports the UK Location Strategy by addressing business interoperability issues which could present barriers to the sharing and re-use of location data published into the UK Location Information Infrastructure (UK Location).  One of the biggest current issues around data sharing is how the public sector distributes and shares data with the wider community outside of the public sector.

The guidance is concerned mainly with data sharing between public authorities, and sets out how data sharing will operate in that area.  It should be noted that the UK Location Strategy takes in, but is not limited to, location data which is published to support compliance with the INSPIRE Directive and the INSPIRE Regulations.  The UK Location Strategy encourages publication of all location information. The guidance is being issued in stages as policy is developed on data sharing.  This initial document covers licensing and charging.  Published simultaneously is guidance on the policy context for data published under the INSPIRE Regulations.  Read More
