When paired with Trimble RTX, Trimble ProPoint Go Now Provides an End-to-End Certified Solution for Lane-Level Vehicle Positioning
WESTMINSTER, Colo.— Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today the ISO 26262:2018 Automotive Safety Integrity Level-C (ASIL-C) certification of its automotive and heavy trucking precise positioning engine – ProPoint Go™. ProPoint Go is the first precise positioning engine to be ASIL-C certified. Designed to respond to the most challenging automotive requirements, Trimble ProPoint Go provides centimeter-level precise and reliable position, velocity and time information based on multi-frequency GNSS signals and ASIL-B certified Trimble RTXⓇ correction data. Automotive manufacturers and suppliers can now utilize precise positioning technology that has been validated for use in safety-critical applications such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicle operation.
ASIL is a risk classification system defined by the ISO 26262 standard for the functional safety of road vehicles, which establishes safety requirements based on the probability and acceptability of harm. ASIL certification is classified by A, B, C and D – with A representing the lowest degree and D the highest. ASIL-C encompasses systems such as cruise control.
Trimble provides automotive manufacturers across the globe with lane-level, safety-certified positioning solutions that can be used to test and develop driving applications – from prototyping to production. Trimble’s functional safety software portfolio not only delivers correct positioning from the correction source, but also from the core precise positioning engine. This provides a flexible solution that auto manufacturers can easily integrate, test and validate.
The certification was carried out by TÜV SÜD. TÜV SÜD offers functional safety assessment, training and certification and is accredited for the relevant technical standards for functional safety and industrial IT security.
“By using Trimble’s precise positioning engine and Trimble RTX correction data with integrity monitoring built-in, this end-to-end solution is a powerful combination of ASIL-certified positioning products that ensure compliance with automotive industry safety standards,” said Olivier Casabianca, vice president of Trimble. “By using the Trimble ProPoint Go engine with the Trimble RTX service, OEMs can now use the accurate and robust positioning solution with greater confidence.”
